Spreading a Table

Every Thursday morning EBC’s staff team gets together for prayer and this week was no different. Doing this makes a difference for us – just knowing that there are other people with whom we can be open about what we have to praise God for, what we need help with, what’s been on our hearts and minds… is a real blessing.
It strikes me that those times when our faith is tested and we ask “Can God really spread a table in the wilderness?” (Psalm 78:19) we can take solace in the fact that we are part of God’s holy church – and a table is a place where family gathers!

It’s not that there won’t be a wilderness sometimes… but that God will be with us in that wilderness – and He may be using that wilderness to take us to a place of greater faith and dependency on Him. The “wilderness” times can be the very times we come to look back on as the times we leaned into God, and each other, and found deepened faith.

What are you praying for today? What are you thanking God for today? For whom are you praying today? And, if you’re not already… when will you start praying regularly – in private and with others?
