Glimpsing God in Sicily

Recently back from a wonderful family holiday in Sicily and, further our recent “Glimpses of God” series, I wanted to share a glimpse I had out there. We took to getting up early to see the sunrise over the Ionian sea… and boy, was it worth it!

The picture below gives you only half the story – standing in the sea, with our backs to the sun, our view ahead was of Mount Etna, huge and still smouldering from recent eruptions. Sicily is an amazing place and rich with history – the Apostle Paul spent three days there (in Syracuse, the old capital – see Acts 28:12) on his way to Rome and famous Sicilians include Archimedes, King Dionysius and his courtier – Damocles. As well as the infamous Cosa Nostra, of course!

Anyway, it’s a special and beautiful place – and looking at Etna with that amazing sunrise behind me was very definitely a ‘glimpse of God’ moment! Do keep sharing yours with us too!

Arrivederci!
