Thursday 13th October
Yesterday was a wet day on site so the team spent the morning painting and grouting in house number one.
"On Thursday afternoon Team 1 travelled into Curitiba to visit Recanto Esperanca a children's project set in a favela near the city's airport. Here 64 children aged between 6 and 15 are given classes during the half of the day when they are not in "regular" school. These sessions include art, music, drama, and bible teaching. The project also looks after 40 families in the surrounding favela.
The Mission Direct Team organised a series of games using "the parachute", and ended with a question and answer session for the children with some of the team members, and prayer. Despite the tremendous poverty that these children live in they all seemed amazingly happy and were very willing to engage with us. A great testament to the faith and hard work over the last 20 years of Thomas and his wife who set up the project and are still running it today."
