Hot Topics: Part 1- 'A Multitude of Sins'

This Sunday, Simon Lace brings us the talk in the latest of our EBC services. We encourage you to reflect on the bible text and join us in the prayer that follows below.

The talk will be available on our You Tube channel from 10am on Sunday 10th October

Once you have listened, here are some questions to consider:

Readings:

John chapter 13 verses 34 to 35 (NRSVA)
34 I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.’

Prayer and Reflection:

Heavenly Father thank you that your love for us does not depend on the colour of our skin or the content of our character, but you just love us because we are your children and we run to you!
Thank you Lord Jesus, for paying the price for our sin and making a reckoning that honours the justice of God and the righteousness of God as well as the love of God.
Holy Spirit we ask that you cleanse and soften our hearts – rid us of evil and fill us with grace and love and forgiveness.
Help us to really love one another and build this church, O God, to be a house where everyone knows we are your disciples by our love for one another.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.

Questions to consider:

1. What have your own experiences of racial prejudices or injustices been?
2. When did you last encounter racism and could you / did you do anything to challenge it?
3. Why do you think Jesus chose a Samaritan as an example of a good neighbour?
4. Does your own circle of friends – maybe even those you habitually speak with at church – include people of a different colour to you?
5. When did you last start a conversation with someone at church of a different colour to you?
6. How might you move people from positions of racism or indifference towards an anti-racist position?
7. When you pass strangers on the street, do you make eye-contact, smile or say hi/hello? Does the other person’s colour make a difference?

I am New

Welcome from all of us at Easthampstead Baptist Church!

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us. As you explore our website, we hope that you catch a broader glimpse of what EBC is all about. It's about people - people just like you - who want to embark on a journey to discover more of God and his will for our lives.

What should I expect on a Sunday Morning?

Sometimes going to a church for the first time can be a little daunting. I promise we won't bite! To help ease any uncertainties below are the answers to some common questions people have before attending a Sunday morning.

What do I have to wear?
We are a 'come as you are' sort of people and have no formal dress-code for our Sunday services.
We can assure you that we don't have bouncers on the door vetting your attire!
If you are still not sure, feel free to check out our services on YouTube to have an idea.

What time do I need to be there?
At the moment we have one Sunday morning service which starts at 10.00am
.
On the 4th Sunday of the month we run our All-sorts service which starts at 10:00am.

Check out our other services below!

We would recommend you turn up 10 minutes before the service starts so you have a chance to say hi!
If you have children that need signing in to the children and youth work, they need to be signed in from 10:50am.

Parking
There is plenty of parking both out the front and at the back of the building. Just follow the signs!

How safe is my child in your care?
We run separate children and youth work during our 10:00am service, which is run by a group of volunteers who have all been DBS checked.

Children ages 11 and under must be signed in and out by their parent/carer. The youth can sign themselves in and out.
