Deep and Wide: Part 1 - 'Going Deep'

This Sunday, Simon Lace brings us the talk in the latest of our EBC services. We encourage you to reflect on the bible text and join us in the prayer that follows below.

The talk will be available via live stream at 9.30am on Sunday 8th January, on our YouTube channel.

Once you have listened, here are some questions to consider:

Readings:

1 Corinthians chapter 12, verses 12 - 13 (NLT)

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.

Matthew chapter 4, verses 18 - 20 (NLT)

One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” And they left their nets at once and followed him.

Prayer and Reflection:

Loving God, help us to be obedient to your call to come and follow You. Help us by Your Holy Spirit to become part of the body of Christ, which is the church, and to fully play our part as we commit ourselves to go all in, to go deep with You and with each other, for Your Kingdom and for Your glory. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Questions to Consider:

  1. Have you ever thought about God’s primary call on your life, which is to follow Jesus?
  2. What stage of your spiritual journey would you say you are at? Exploring faith and your questions about God, Discovering good answers to your questions and an appetite for more, Partnering in some ways with God and the church, or fully Embracing Jesus as central to your life?
  3. Have you taken the time to explore our “Next Steps” resources? If not, why not?
  4. What might a ‘next step’ in your own spirituality look like?
  5. What might you want to address in your life that you think might help you go deeper with God?
  6. Is God and church peripheral to you or at the heart of things?
  7. Are you part of a Life Group of any kind? (At EBC we define Life Groups as “Small circles of people growing together in faith, trust and accountability”.)

I am New

Welcome from all of us at Easthampstead Baptist Church!

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us. As you explore our website, we hope that you catch a broader glimpse of what EBC is all about. It's about people - people just like you - who want to embark on a journey to discover more of God and his will for our lives.

What should I expect on a Sunday Morning?

Sometimes going to a church for the first time can be a little daunting. I promise we won't bite! To help ease any uncertainties below are the answers to some common questions people have before attending a Sunday morning.

What do I have to wear?
We are a 'come as you are' sort of people and have no formal dress-code for our Sunday services.
We can assure you that we don't have bouncers on the door vetting your attire!
If you are still not sure, feel free to check out our services on YouTube to have an idea.

What time do I need to be there?
At the moment we have one Sunday morning service which starts at 10.00am
.
On the 4th Sunday of the month we run our All-sorts service which starts at 10:00am.

Check out our other services below!

We would recommend you turn up 10 minutes before the service starts so you have a chance to say hi!
If you have children that need signing in to the children and youth work, they need to be signed in from 10:50am.

Parking
There is plenty of parking both out the front and at the back of the building. Just follow the signs!

How safe is my child in your care?
We run separate children and youth work during our 10:00am service, which is run by a group of volunteers who have all been DBS checked.

Children ages 11 and under must be signed in and out by their parent/carer. The youth can sign themselves in and out.
