Questions to Consider

I really hope that you have enjoyed our series of services on the fruit of the Spirit, and our Easter services recently. I wonder, did any of the talks really strike home and give you things to ponder?

One of the things I have on my long-term ‘to do’ list is to run a course on Theological Reflection – something that I have found to be really helpful in my own life. Most weeks, whoever is preaching on a given Sunday will also write up a short ‘talk blog’ for this website. The talks themselves can of course be watched on our YouTube channel but the blog consists of the main readings used, a prayer, and a few ‘questions to consider’. If you engage with these questions, you will effectively be engaging in theological reflection, so can I encourage you to do so?

Let me give you a taster by asking you a few questions on the back of these last few weeks at EBC…

  1. Which of the fruits of the Spirit talks did you find most personally challenging?
  2. Why? What struck you particularly and is there some area of your life, or a specific situation that it made you think about?
  3. What was that situation or area? What happened/is happening? What might God be saying to you as you pray about it?
  4. What stories or passages from the Bible speak into the situation for you? Are there examples of Jesus’s teaching and example, or in the example of fellow Christians, that can bring some light into your situation?
  5. Is there a close Christian confidante you can talk to?
  6. Is there something you should have or could have done differently if you had the chance?
  7. If you were to do the right thing, or the best thing, from now on, what might that look like?

As we move into the season post-Easter, I really hope that we can continue to build a strong community of faith at EBC – one that is deep, not shallow and unafraid to ask ourselves tough questions, to find good and godly answers and to hold each other to account even as we support and encourage one another. Life is sometimes tough – and we’re much stronger when we go through it together!

I am New

Welcome from all of us at Easthampstead Baptist Church!

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us. As you explore our website, we hope that you catch a broader glimpse of what EBC is all about. It's about people - people just like you - who want to embark on a journey to discover more of God and his will for our lives.

What should I expect on a Sunday Morning?

Sometimes going to a church for the first time can be a little daunting. I promise we won't bite! To help ease any uncertainties below are the answers to some common questions people have before attending a Sunday morning.

What do I have to wear?
We are a 'come as you are' sort of people and have no formal dress-code for our Sunday services.
We can assure you that we don't have bouncers on the door vetting your attire!

If you are still not sure, feel free to check out our services on YouTube to have an idea.

What time do I need to be there?
We run two Sunday morning services which start at 9:30am and 11:00am.
On the 4th Sunday of the month we run our All-sorts service which starts at 10:00am.

Check out our other services below!

We would recommend you turn up 10 minutes before the service starts so you have a chance to say hi!
If you have children that need signing in to the children and youth work, they need to be signed in from 10:50am.

Parking
There is plenty of parking both out the front and at the back of the building. Just follow the signs!

How safe is my child in your care?
We run separate children and youth work during our 11:00am service, which is run by a group of volunteers who have all been DBS checked.

Children ages 11 and under must be signed in and out by their parent/carer. The youth can sign themselves in and out.
