Sundays are Fundays!

What a wonderful time we had at our recent Funday Sunday, with hundreds of guests being wowed by the whole event. A mahoosive thank you to all the lovely people who made it possible by setting up, clearing down and everything else in-between, from face-painting to goat-wrangling, with ice-cream and burger dispensing somewhere in the mix!

Everyone I spoke with seemed to really value what we were doing and were amazed that it was all free! Of course, our Funday Sunday is one expression of caring for our community, and as regulars at EBC will know, caring and community are two of our five family values as a church –

  • Caring
  • Commitment
  • Community
  • Celebration
  • Communication

These values flow out of a particular part of the Bible called ‘Acts’, which describes what Jesus’s first followers did (i.e. what their acts were) after Jesus’s resurrection and ascension into heaven.  The passage concerned says this –

Acts 2:42-47 (New International Version)

The Fellowship of the Believers
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

This is a description of a joyful community that loves to be together, sharing meals and caring for people who needed some help. Clearly, they were committed to fellowship with God and wanted to celebrate and communicate the goodness of God among themselves and others. That’s the kind of community we at EBC want to be too!

Today (Monday, as I write) the staff team here is a little tired from all that went on yesterday, but the day started with Bacon Butty Club at 7am and this afternoon we have a whole load of families here for Messy Church. On Wednesday Kim will be leading our Premix Toddlers group and on Thursday another wonderful team of volunteers will be running the EBC Coffee Morning.

Thursday is also a day when some pastoral visits will be happening and the Storehouse van will no doubt be whizzing out and about taking things to people who are in need - have you ever noticed what it says on the side of the van? If you read again the passage from Acts above, you may spot where it comes from!

Best of all, at the end of another busy week, on Sunday we have an amazing event to look forward to as we have someone taking the wonderful step of faith that is Baptism – we can’t wait!

See you on Sunday!

I am New

Welcome from all of us at Easthampstead Baptist Church!

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us. As you explore our website, we hope that you catch a broader glimpse of what EBC is all about. It's about people - people just like you - who want to embark on a journey to discover more of God and his will for our lives.

What should I expect on a Sunday Morning?

Sometimes going to a church for the first time can be a little daunting. I promise we won't bite! To help ease any uncertainties below are the answers to some common questions people have before attending a Sunday morning.

What do I have to wear?
We are a 'come as you are' sort of people and have no formal dress-code for our Sunday services.
We can assure you that we don't have bouncers on the door vetting your attire!
If you are still not sure, feel free to check out our services on YouTube to have an idea.

What time do I need to be there?
At the moment we have one Sunday morning service which starts at 10.00am
.
On the 4th Sunday of the month we run our All-sorts service which starts at 10:00am.

Check out our other services below!

We would recommend you turn up 10 minutes before the service starts so you have a chance to say hi!
If you have children that need signing in to the children and youth work, they need to be signed in from 10:50am.

Parking
There is plenty of parking both out the front and at the back of the building. Just follow the signs!

How safe is my child in your care?
We run separate children and youth work during our 10:00am service, which is run by a group of volunteers who have all been DBS checked.

Children ages 11 and under must be signed in and out by their parent/carer. The youth can sign themselves in and out.
