Family Values: Part 2 - 'Mission'

This Sunday, Rob Lea brings us the talk in the latest of our EBC services. We encourage you to reflect on the bible text and join us in the prayer that follows below.

Here are some questions to consider:

Readings:

Matthew chapter 28 verses 16 - 20

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Prayer and Reflection:

Lord God, we are recipients of your great love and the good news of your gospel in our salvation. Open the eyes of our heart that we may see; that we may know what is the hope to which you have called us: the hope of eternal life.
We ask that our life as your disciple bears fruit in our community as we seek to action your great commission: as we accompany others toward You and Your Church.

We pray that you open doors in all the areas which our lives intersect, and that you pave the way for the conversations we will have; in our workplaces, schools, leisure activities, and our relationships.
Make us aware of opportunities to bear witness to the greatness, the glory, and the goodness of our Savior. Give us a boldness to walk through these doors and proclaim the hope of redemption in Jesus and the promise of eternal life, for the glory of Your name.
AMEN

Questions to Consider

1. Without reference to the EBC Web Site, can you remember the EBC mission phrase? (A clue: it has just four words)
2. Have you ever been given a serious mission to complete, or do you know anyone personally that has? What was it, and did you complete it?
3. Have you heard of Misio Dei? It is a Latin theological term that can be translated as the ‘mission of God. Explain what the mission of God is on earth.
4. What is the role of the church in completing the mission of God? What is your role?
5. Jesus said to his followers, ‘go and make disciples of all nations’. How does that happen and what can you do?
6. Matthew 28:16-20 contains ‘the great commission’. The counterpart is the ‘great commandment’. Do you know what that is, and why is it important as a counterpart to the ‘great commission’?
7. If a person commits their life to Jesus and becomes a disciple, what steps can they take to ensure that they stay on the ‘narrow road’?
8. Read Hebrews 10:23-25. Do you believe that this is important in the life of a Christian disciple? If you do, what are your reasons for thinking that?

I am New

Welcome from all of us at Easthampstead Baptist Church!

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us. As you explore our website, we hope that you catch a broader glimpse of what EBC is all about. It's about people - people just like you - who want to embark on a journey to discover more of God and his will for our lives.

What should I expect on a Sunday Morning?

Sometimes going to a church for the first time can be a little daunting. I promise we won't bite! To help ease any uncertainties below are the answers to some common questions people have before attending a Sunday morning.

What do I have to wear?
We are a 'come as you are' sort of people and have no formal dress-code for our Sunday services.
We can assure you that we don't have bouncers on the door vetting your attire!

If you are still not sure, feel free to check out our services on YouTube to have an idea.

What time do I need to be there?
We run two Sunday morning services which start at 9:30am and 11:00am.
On the 4th Sunday of the month we run our All-sorts service which starts at 10:00am.

Check out our other services below!

We would recommend you turn up 10 minutes before the service starts so you have a chance to say hi!
If you have children that need signing in to the children and youth work, they need to be signed in from 10:50am.

Parking
There is plenty of parking both out the front and at the back of the building. Just follow the signs!

How safe is my child in your care?
We run separate children and youth work during our 11:00am service, which is run by a group of volunteers who have all been DBS checked.

Children ages 11 and under must be signed in and out by their parent/carer. The youth can sign themselves in and out.
