Hot Topics Pt 2

Welcome to England

This Sunday, Rob Lea  brings us the talk in the latest of our EBC services. We encourage you to reflect on the bible text and join us in the prayer that follows below.

Here are some questions to consider:

Prayer and Reflection

Lord God, we thank you for your love, for your mercy and for your grace. We ask that you help us by your spirit to be mirrors of those underserved blessings; conduits and not cul-de-sacs. In particular, at this time, we think of those seeking sanctuary in this country, many who are desperate, frightened and without hope. Lord have mercy on them. You taught us to love our neighbour. And we confess that we have not always done that, especially in our thoughts and sometimes in our words. Please forgive us. Lord Jesus, we recognise that we are all future migrants, there is one last journey to make. So, we thank you that whenever that time comes, you have promised that you will be with us on the journey.

Questions to Consider

1. In what way do people who are immigrants, living in this country, make a positive contribution to our society/culture?

2. Can you explain the legal difference between an immigrant, a refugee and an asylum seeker?

3. In Job 38:2 God asks Job, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge?’ Can you recall an occasion when you have been guilty of this?

4. Conversations and discussions about immigration are often confrontational, and the language strident and inflammatory. What do you think are the reasons for this, what’s really behind it?

5. The bible informs us that God loves and is concerned for those who are poor and in need. How does your life mirror His love and concern?

6. Jesus was asked, ‘Who is my neighbour?’ How would you answer that question?

7. It’s been claimed that ‘a lack of love is often easy to justify, though it is never right.’ Do you agree with that? What are your reasons for either agreeing or disagreeing?

8. We are all ‘future migrants’ in that we will all take one last journey from this life to the next. In what way ae you prepared for that journey?

I am New

Welcome from all of us at Easthampstead Baptist Church!

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us. As you explore our website, we hope that you catch a broader glimpse of what EBC is all about. It's about people - people just like you - who want to embark on a journey to discover more of God and his will for our lives.

What should I expect on a Sunday Morning?

Sometimes going to a church for the first time can be a little daunting. I promise we won't bite! To help ease any uncertainties below are the answers to some common questions people have before attending a Sunday morning.

What do I have to wear?
We are a 'come as you are' sort of people and have no formal dress-code for our Sunday services.
We can assure you that we don't have bouncers on the door vetting your attire!
If you are still not sure, feel free to check out our services on YouTube to have an idea.

What time do I need to be there?
At the moment we have one Sunday morning service which starts at 10.00am.

On the 4th Sunday of the month we run our All-sorts service which starts at 10:00am.

Check out our other services below!

We would recommend you turn up 10 minutes before the service starts so you have a chance to say hi!
If you have children that need signing in to the children and youth work, they need to be signed in from 9:50am.

Parking
There is plenty of parking both out the front and at the back of the building. Just follow the signs!

How safe is my child in your care?
We run separate children and youth work during our 10:00am service, which is run by a group of volunteers who have all been DBS checked.

Children ages 11 and under must be signed in and out by their parent/carer. The youth can sign themselves in and out.
